Club History
Lara Basketball Club was founded in 1992 and has since provided an organisation to which community members of all ages and abilities can participate in to enjoy the game of basketball. Since the club’s inception over 1500 individual players have played under the Lara Basketball Club banner and more than 150 people have volunteered their time to serve as coaches and committee members.
The club currently has in around of 600 members which make up 80 teams participating in the Geelong Basketball Association competitions (as of Summer 2022/23). Our current members consist of approximately 500 junior players and 100 senior players.
With a growing population in our region we are committed to providing an organisation for the Lara and surrounding communities which supports social inclusion, promotion of active and healthy life-styles and personal development opportunities’. All while promoting and supporting one of the most participated sports in the world.
